Biography

Spanish from birth but living in The Netherlands already for almost 16 years! I was born in Barcelona, beautiful wonderful city. I remember when I was young I use to say that I would never leave that city and my country, those were my roots (they are still), but life put other things in your path that make it change.
I study actually first Administration/Book-Keeping and later Social Work. In my “young” years I did a lot of volunteer work. I was even volunteer by the Barcelona Olympic Games and the Paralympics, wonderful and unforgettable experience. In the early ’90 was a big crisis in Spain, maybe not so big as now, but pretty big. It was very difficult to find a job when you just had your diploma. So like many young people are doing now, I decided to give a shot and go for few months to The Netherlands as Au-pair. This was only meant to be for a short period; but ah life!  I met then the person who is now my husband.
So in January 1997 I moved to live in The Netherlands for good. We live in Haarlem, pretty and nice city, with a lot of culinary shops, cafe’s, restaurants, where you can enjoy eating and drinking. In the beginning I could hardly cook, only a few simple recipes that my mother had teach me. We were young and we didn’t think much about food, until one day you realize that “to eat” is something that you have to do every day, so you can better do it good.
When the years were passing I start testing new things, getting new magazines and books. So our meals where improving a lot. A couple of years ago I developed a food allergy, that makes a bit complicated what I can and I can’t eat. Then I had to start puzzling with ingredients to find the perfect combination that was better for me and of course for my family. Since the beginning of 2012 we have switch to almost 100% organic food, (we have quite good shops in Haarlem) it seems that my food allergy has improve, I hardly have to take my pills, I am really happy with that. Plus that our general health has improve as well.
My dream is one day to be able to have my own cooking shop where you can also have a cup of coffee with a fresh made cake or … In the meanwhile I keep applying for office jobs where I am really good at (many years of experience) and who knows maybe one day I can follow my dream …
